Bobby Brown Bails on Radio Station | Bobby Brown
Bobby Brown hung up on a Washington D.C. radio station that allegedly paid for him to get out of jail in exchange for his services as an on-air host.

The singer was arrested on Sunday in Massachusetts for failing to appear in court and failure to pay over $19,000 in back child support and court fees. Unable to come up with the money, the signer remained behind bars until Wednesday night when he was freed.

According to the Web site for Washington D.C. radio station HOT 99.5FM, the station paid for Brown's release in exchange for a week of appearances as a guest-host on the morning program, The Kane Show.

Brown did appear on air Friday – but hung up about 10 minutes into the show after getting into an argument with the host, Kane, over whether he would discuss his child support woes and what his agreement with the station actually was. The conversation is available to listeners via podcast on the station's Web site.

"If you have been listening to The Kane Show this morning on HOT 99.5, then you already know what's happening," the station said in an article on its Web site. "Bobby Brown has backed out on his part of our deal to pay his back child support in return for appearing on The Kane Show for one week." The station says it plans to rescind the offer and attempt to get the money back.

Brown's reps have not returned calls for comment.

The talk between Brown and Kane, who hosts the station's morning show every week day from 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., got off to a rough start after Kane asked, "Can we talk for a second, because there are people listening to the show right now.. that are saying, you know Bobby Brown has had a chance, he's had two chances, he's had three chances, he's had four chances..."

Brown interrupted asking, "For what?"

"To go ahead and fix some of the problems with paying child support," Kane answered.

The line of questioning put Brown on the defensive. "What do you mean fix some of the problems?" he said. "I'm a father and as far as nonpayment of child support, that's personal."

After some more heated discussion on the subject, Kane reminded Brown that the station had paid to get him out of jail – though Brown did not seem clear on this point. "I guess...did you? You paid. OK," he said, then added, "No, we don't [have] that cleared up yet."

The two then got into a lengthy argument over Brown's alleged agreement to appear as a guest-host on the show for a week – and after a few minutes Brown hung up.
