Four Pranksters Turn Themselves in After Causing Stampede by Revving Leaf Blower at Movie Theater in Mock Attack

The three males and one female, all between 15 and 20, are suspected of terrorizing a crowd of moviegoers watching a showing of The Gift at a Newport Beach, California, theater, CBS Los Angeles reports.
According to police, the suspects entered through an emergency exit and revved up the leaf blower. Panicked patrons, who were on edge in the wake of two recent movie theater attacks, rushed for the exits, fearing for their lives.
"I had nightmares that I heard the sound of the chainsaw," said witness Kyndall Aldama, who injured her foot in the mad dash for the exit. "When you go into an enclosed space and say you have a weapon, you're sending people into a panic for their lives."
All together, three moviegoers were injured in the incident.
The four suspects, who were identified with the help of security footage, showed up a police headquarters for questioning on Tuesday, but were released without being charged, The Orange County Register reports.
However, they could still face charges of conspiracy to disturb the peace or conspiracy to incite a riot, according CBS Los Angeles.
Police said the four also revved the same leaf blower at an Irvine In-N-Out Burger earlier that night.
The investigation is ongoing.
