Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Thompson Remembers How She Felt the Moment She Found Out Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Was Canceled

04/27/2016 AT 05:05 PM EDT

Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson had just turned 9 years old when she was forced out of the reality spotlight.

Now 10, the former Here Comes Honey Boo Boo looks back on the moment she learned her series had been canceled.

"I woke up one morning, and I was like, 'Where's the crew?' And my mom was like, 'We stopped filming the show,' " Thompson shares in an exclusive sneak peek at Saturday's Oprah: Where Are They Now?.

TLC shut down production on the series in 2014 after Thompson's mother, "Mama June" Shannon was linked to convicted sex offender Mark McDaniel, who allegedly molested Shannon's own daughter Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell. (Shannon's brother-in-law Mike "Poodle" Thompson also leveled accusations that Thompson had shared a bed with McDaniel.)

Upon hearing the news she'd no longer have her own show, Thompson admits, "I was kind of happy, but at the same time I was sad. So I was kind of sa-happy?"

Oprah: Where Are They Now? airs Saturdays (10 p.m. ET) on OWN.
