Alec Baldwin might not ever run for mayor, but he can still create an iconic New York City moment.

The 30 Rock star was taking in Maria Sharapova's opening match at the U.S. Open Monday when a mis-hit tennis ball bounced over to his front-row seat, almost as if it had been aimed at him.

Without missing a beat, Baldwin calmly caught the ball, then waved to the crowd, likely contemplating an imagined future where he was the benevolent ruler of New York City and crowds everywhere cheered his very presence.

Then he threw the ball back to a ball boy, because all dreams must fade.
