In a closed discussion in the judge's chambers on Tuesday, a Ventura County, California, judge extended the 28-year-old actress's conservatorship until a hearing on June 23, PEOPLE confirms.
Currently, her parents have control over her finances and medical needs.
Bynes's DUI case from back in September, for which she was facing probation violation charges, was also dismissed, her lawyer David Esquibias confirms.
"Amanda is doing well," Esquibias tells PEOPLE.
The actress – who was released from a psychiatric facility in October after less than a month of treatment – was first arrested for DUI in 2012 but avoided jail time by completing inpatient treatment. In early 2014, she was placed on three years' probation for that incident.
"Amanda is doing much better from where she was months ago," says a family source. "She has her own apartment and is much happier. She and her parents are getting along and Amanda is clear-headed, more focused and has more independence."
