"I was completely shocked just like the rest of the world," Duggar posted on her blog on Monday.
"The only difference was I was being fitted for my wedding dress with tears running down my face and a glass of wine in my hand as the news broke. I wondered what the heck was going on? A million questions flooded my mind."
Just months before Josh's admission in August, a 2006 police report revealed that he had also been accused of inappropriately touching five minor girls as a teen.
"Life was just wonderful … drum roll please …." Amy wrote. "Until one of my family members made some terrible confessions. I knew nothing of the molestation charges."
Shortly after his announcement Josh, 27, flew to a faith-based rehabilitation center in Rockford, Illinois, where he is currently still receiving treatment, says Amy.
"Rage came over me, sadness crept in, and reality sat in that the person I had known my entire life turned out to be a fraud, and a complete stranger," she recalls of the scandal.
"I've always heard that there were people in this world that lived a double life, but I never thought that someone so close to home would be living a lie."
While Josh's parents Jim Bob and Michelle released a statement asking for prayers for Josh and their family, Amy's opinion on the scandal is simple.
She told PEOPLE exclusively on Monday after releasing her blog: "I hope he gets the help he needs."
