She isn't ready to give up on love, but when it comes to being an assistant district attorney, Andi Dorfman is calling it quits.

The Bachelorette star, 27, has officially resigned from her position in Georgia, PEOPLE can confirm.

After first landing the job as Fulton County's prosecutor following her 2012 graduation from Wake Forest Law School, Dorfman was ecstatic. "I was very fortunate to be in a specialized unit in my office," she told PEOPLE before her season began. "My specialty was gangs. It was a really coveted position."

But after taking her first leave of absence to film Juan Pablo Galavis's season of The Bachelor, Dorfman admitted she had doubts about departing a second time to shoot The Bachelorette.

"There was that worry of 'If I leave, is somebody going to take my place?' " she said. "I'm a young female attorney and it's already an uphill battle for me."

Despite loving her role in the D.A.'s office, and initial plans to return after filming – "I'm ready. I miss being a lawyer," she said in May. "I worked hard for it and I hadn't been doing it for that long" – it seems Dorfman had a change of heart.

"My home is Atlanta, my family is there, but I am serious about finding love and if that means going somewhere else and figuring it out once I get there, then that's what it takes," she said.
