In an interview with Time Out London, Andrew Garfield reveals that, besides having the heightened senses and powers of a spider, his character in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is Jewish.
"Peter Parker is not a simple dude," Garfield explains. "He ums and ahs about his future because he's neurotic. It's a defining feature."
Garfield, whose father is Jewish, added that he was including himself in his assessment: "I have that in me, for sure."
So far, the actor's remarks have caused little uproar in the Jewish community. In fact, Jewish dating site JDate went so far as to make a free profile for the superpowered teen, and shared it with PEOPLE below.
Who knows? If things don't work out with Gwen Stacy, maybe Peter Parker could find happiness with a nice Jewish girl.

About Me: I’m a pretty cool dude. You may have heard of me in the New York papers as a masked vigilante or seen me swinging around in my red and blue, slightly uncomfortable, spandex uniform. My favorite holiday is Purim, it just suits me with the whole dressing up in costume thing. I don’t say much in person but I’m kind of an awesome superhero. I catch thieves like flies! Don’t be deceived by my lean figure because I have serious super strength and agility. I can carry like 173 times my own weight. Can your last boyfriend do that?
My perfect first date: I’m kind of a romantic. I say we start with a nice Shabbat dinner and then lay on my web and star gaze. Of course, I’d love to finish the evening with the perfect upside down kiss.
My life and ambitions: My motto is, “With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility,” and I intend to use my power to protect the people of New York from falling cars, Dr. Octopus and The Green Goblin. But, I want to share my adventures with someone who gets my spidey senses tingling! Don’t worry, babe, I’ll protect you.
On our first date remind me to tell you the story about… when I fought a lizard. It was epic.
The coolest places I’ve visited: I’ve been to every spot in New York City, but the coolest is between the top of the Empire State Building (not the top floor, like, on the top of that pointy thing) or the view from chillin’ on the Statue of Liberty’s head.
For fun, I like to… Swing between buildings, walk on ceilings, work on my web weaving, bake homemade challah and fight bullies.
You should definitely message me if you: Aren’t grossed out by bugs, specifically spiders, like adventure, aren’t afraid of heights and are ready to get caught in the web!
