Though Andi Dorfman found her happy ending, Bachelorette runner-up Nick Viall hoped she'd give him another chance.

The day after the sales account executive spilled intimate details of their courtship – he asked a shocked Dorfman why she "made love" to him just to give him the boot – ABC released his attempt to win her back.

On Tuesday, the show's official Facebook page posted a copy of the letter Viall slipped to Dorfman, 27, through host Chris Harrison after she gave her final rose to former pro athlete Josh Murray, who in turn popped the question.

"You lit me up," he wrote. "You made me feel those things that people go a lifetime to find, and I feel like I made you feel the same. I truly hoped we would have made it into the real world, where there would be no arbitrary dead-line, where those stresses that came with the environment would have melted away, where we could have had the goofy, fun, exciting relationship that I know we could have. What we had was real to me, and it was amazing."

Viall, 33, went on to detail the "passion," "intensity" and "wow" moments they shared on their journey.

"I am not going to say that if by some miracle you changed your mind and were willing to give us a shot that we would definitely make it. I don't know that," he wrote. "I think that if we were willing to trust each other, be totally vulnerable with one another, and follow our hearts, we would have a great chance. What I can promise you is that if we did make it, we would be anything but good. It would be exciting, sometimes even hard, but definitely great."

He ended with an appeal to her heart: "I realize I have to move on and I mean it when I say that if you're truly happy with your decision and I haven't been a thought on your mind, then I want that happiness to continue for you. … I just know I would much rather turn my life upside down and risk it all to be amazing with you."

Despite the letter's raw emotions, Viall told PEOPLE he's since moved on from the rejection.

"I've accepted her decision very much, absolutely," he said. "But I think when you love someone as much as I loved her, I don't know if you totally get over that in 10 weeks. I'm still working through it."

An "After the Final Rose" switcheroo wouldn't have been completely unprecedented: Bachelor Jason Mesnick proposed to Melissa Rycroft on the 2009 finale but dumped her for his now-wife Molly on the live special.
