The dark-er knight?

A more violent and graphic version of the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will be released when the film becomes available on the home video market.

Fans can see the Zach Snyder-directed film first on March 25, and then get even more action with the extended cut, dubbed the "Ultimate Edition," according to the film ratings board.

The bonus scenes earned an R rating from the Motion Picture Association of America because of violence, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill-starring theatrical version of the film has a PG-13 rating for "intense sequences of violence and action throughout, and some sensuality."

Batman v Superman finds the two iconic comic book heroes facing off, with Affleck's Bruce Wayne harboring a personal vendetta against the Man of Steel (Cavill).
