In a new sit-down with The New York Times, the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star says he was "fine" with Garner sharing bombshells about their relationship.
"She's allowed to talk about it," Affleck (reluctantly, noted the Times) said.
"She felt like she wanted to discuss it and get it out there and get it over with," he told the newspaper, "so she could say, 'Look, I already talked about it – I don't want to do it again.' "
He also made sure to note that their recent public appearances and private meet-ups haven't been for show: "Jen's great. She's a great person."
Affleck added, "We're on great terms. I just saw her this morning, so that's the reality that I live in."
The actor even addressed Ricky Gervais's joke at the Golden Globes, in which he introduced Matt Damon as "the only person who Ben Affleck hasn’t been unfaithful to."
"It’s the way Ricky Gervais perceives me, I suppose," Affleck said laughing. "Whatever. I've had jokes made at my expense before. It’s part of the deal."
In Garner's interview, she called Affleck – with whom she shares three children – the "love of my life," and said the end of their marriage "hurts me so much."
She added of the star, "He's the most brilliant person in any room, the most charismatic, the most generous. He's just a complicated guy. I always say, 'When his sun shines on you, you feel it.' But when the sun is shining elsewhere, it's cold. He can cast quite a shadow."
The Miracles from Heaven star also addressed Affleck's reported affair with their former nanny (something he has continually, adamantly denied).
"We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny," she said. "She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgment? Yes."

Affleck, who is promoting his new action movie, told the Times that Garner and kids Violet, 10, Seraphina, 7, and Sam, 4, will visit him in Europe while he films Justice League.
He added of having his relationship problems continually thrust in the public eye, "It never seems like a great time to have your privacy invaded. Obviously this is a particularly hard time."
