Bethenny Frankel: Why I Don't Need to Get Married Again

04/13/2016 AT 09:20 AM EDT

Bethenny Frankel is in no rush to walk down the aisle again.

"We're not supposed to change who we are for a man, and I guarantee I won't be making that mistake again," The Real Housewives of New York City star tells PEOPLE exclusively in this week's issue.

"I don't need to get married. I don't need a man. I can support five men."

Frankel is still in the midst of a contentious divorce from her soon-to-be ex-husband Jason Hoppy (they announced their split in December 2012) after three years of marriage.

"Everybody is out there looking for someone – they want the ring and to get married," she says. "My opinion is you need a man who can deal with you. If I can't meet someone who can do that, then I'd rather be alone."

Just weeks ago Frankel was "pleased" after a court dropped the amount of money she's paying Hoppy in spousal support by roughly $12,000 per month and ruled that a trust agreement granting joint ownership of their Tribeca apartment was invalid.

"A different caliber of man has been interested in me in the last couple of years," says Frankel, 45, of her dating life. "It's been someone really successful who is very smart who is excited to meet a woman who doesn't need them to be their everything and doesn't need them to support them."
