While the world waits with bated breath to see if Jay Z makes a surprise appearance on stage with Beyoncé Wednesday night at her Miami concert, PEOPLE takes a look at the city that holds a wealth of memories for the couple and their 4-year-old daughter Blue Ivy.
Though he partied in Miami Beach as a single man, the rapper settled down with the "Formation" singer in several Miami condos once they became an item.
When Blue Ivy arrived, the family became familiar faces at family-friendly spots like Jungle Island and Joey's Pizza.
In 2014, the doting parents rented out the boutique zoo for their daughter's second birthday. Celebrating with their close friends, they "seemed very happy and were friendly to everyone" as they played with the animals and toured the gardens, says an onlooker.

The stars have also partied with their famous pals – including Jamie Foxx, Pharrell, The Weeknd and more – at various hotspots.
"Miami Beach is very special for this couple. They have had dozens of amazing experiences here and love coming down," says a source.
Over the weekend, Beyoncé released her visual album Lemonade, seemingly addressing rumors of infidelity by Jay Z throughout their marriage. "They definitely went through a rough patch a couple years ago, but they came out stronger in the end," says an insider close to the couple. "Jay's been very supportive of Beyoncé."
