Several websites claimed that Bobby Brown planned to remove his daughter, Bobbi Kristina, from life support. The reports came nearly four months after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub on Jan. 31. The family received hundreds of supportive messages on social media.
The only problem: it wasn't true. Reps for Brown, Cissy Houston and Pat Houston quickly denied the reports to PEOPLE, calling it a "false story."
A Brown family source tells PEOPLE that those false stories are distracting to the family. "It's background noise," says the source. "Bobby hears these reports, and it's annoying to him. He hates that people are just waiting for his daughter to die."
Bobbi Kristina's condition has remained unchanged since she was transported to a rehab facility in March. While Cissy Houston has publicly said that there is little hope of recovery, the Brown family say they're unwilling to give up on the 22-year-old.
"Let me tell you this now," says the Brown family source. "Don't believe any reports that Bobby is going to take her off life support. He's never going to do that. I don't think he'll ever go there; if there's a 2 percent chance, a 1 percent chance, a 0.1 percent chance, he will keep hope alive."
Family members visit Bobbi Kristina daily. While it used to be an around-the-clock vigil for her recovery, the visits have become less of a marathon. Each day, Bobby Brown or Pat Houston comes by and sit with Bobbi Kristina, talking and singing to her. Sometimes, extended family pay her a visit.
Each visit ends the same way. "We pray every time," says the family source. "We don't want America to forget to pray for Bobbi Kristina. As long as she has breath and her heart is beating, no one will give up on her."
