Bailey Matthews is an 8-year-old boy from Nottinghamshire, England, who participated in a grueling triathlon last weekend – an impressive feat for anyone – but particularly for Matthews because he has cerebral palsy, a disorder that affects muscle tone and motor skills.

Inspired by his triathlete father, Matthews completed a 100-meter swim, 4,000-meter bike ride and 1,300-meter run. He used a special walking frame to help him around the course, but during the home stretch, he decided to ditch it – and the crowd went wild!

His mother, Julie Hardcastle, told the Yorkshire Post, "You can see his little face when he came round and saw everyone; that was his way of finishing in style and showing everyone what he could do. It was the response from the crowd that pushed him to do that."
