Attending the second night of Springsteen's The River Tour stop to Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Sollers was poised to take a selfie with the 66-year-old in the background when he snuck up from behind her.
Springsteen was captured on video wrapping his arm around the shocked teen – a moment forever memorialized by a front-facing camera lens.
"I was hoping to get him out of the corner of the picture but he came up and gave me a hug from behind, which was amazing," Sollers told Good Morning America of the "amazing" viral moment.
The photo was preceded by a handshake from the star, and inspired by a fellow concertgoer, Sollers explained to GMA .
"A girl next to us got a selfie and I was like, 'Oh my God I have to get a selfie with him if he comes around again,' which usually doesn't happen," Sollers explained. "But he came around again and I just kind of kneeled down and I was ready and I didn't even look back. I was just ready to get a selfie with him."
