A 4-year-old leukemia patient "married" her favorite nurse at the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancers in Albany, New York, on Thursday.
After his young patient's mother told him that her daughter "was looking forward to marrying" him, nurse Matt Hickling joined forces with hospital staffers to put together the quickest – and cutest – faux wedding.
And no detail was spared during the touching ceremony, which was planned in 12 hours. The bride wore a white dress and the groom sported a tuxedo T-shirt. The adorable duo was joined by an officiant (a doctor took on the role), two bridesmaids and ring bearer. Ring pops were used in lieu of wedding bands, and the event ended on a sweet note – cake for everyone!
Fellow nurse Lori Ciafardoni, who was also in attendance, posted a video of the nuptials on her Facebook page.
After exchanging "I do's," Hickling pushed his bride in a mini pink car – complete with a "Just Married!" sign. They rode through the hospital halls before digging into their cake and taking photos.
"This day will hopefully be one our patient and her family can always look back on and smile when days are tough," Hickling posted on his Facebook page. "I know I will!"
