"I mean, honestly for me, being on my own is awesome," says Savannah, who is in the process of transferring from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee to Belmont University, also in Nashville, so she can explore the school's music business programs.

"It's just given me a chance to come into who I truly am," she added. "I just really do love being by myself. That's just kind of my personality. Doing things by myself and not having my dad all up in my business is pretty awesome! I love him to death, but sometimes he's just got to let go a little bit."

But of course, the transition hasn't been easy on her family – especially ever-protective patriarch Todd Chrisley, 46.

"It's definitely been harder on my dad I would say than anyone else, just because he likes to know what I'm doing 24/7," Savannah says, and an exclusive sneak peek at Tuesday's premiere shows previews just how excited Todd gets when his daughter returns home for the weekend.

As for what we can expect throughout this season, Savannah says the focus is definitely on dad and mom adjusting to their emptier nest: With Savannah and her brother Chase, 19, both off at college, and their eldest siblings Kyle, 24, and Lindsie, 26, having been gone for some time, Todd and wife Julie are left with their youngest son Grayson, 9, as well as Kyle's young daughter Chloe.

"It's been really weird for my parents to really just have Chloe and Grayson, and it's harder because Grayson and I are super close – like best friends," she says. "So they're having to deal with their emotions and they're also having to deal with Grayson and getting him used to me leaving." (Luckily, Savannah and Grayson keep in touch: "I'm telling you, that kid, he FaceTimes me 5 to 7 times a day!" Savannah says with a laugh.)

Of course, "my dad still wants to be all up in my business," she adds, revealing that "there comes a point in this season that I've finally had enough of it."

But once things settle, that's when the fun really begins!

"In the second part [of the season], I feel like everyone's kind of used to it and it's all fun and games!" she says.

And there's one thing Todd has gotten used to, though it wasn't easy at first – Savannah's boyfriend of over a year, country singer Blaire Hanks.

I think you may be the type of guy that I'd make a sandwich for... @blairehanks

"You know, I'm on my own now," Savannah says. "[My dad is] definitely a little bit more at ease because he knows I'm never going to put myself in a situation that I shouldn't be in. You know, heck, I go to church every Sunday, and my boyfriend and I have said: 'If God's not in the center of your relationship, then it's never going to truly work out.' So my dad's definitely learned to trust me with it."

Chrisley Knows Best season 4 premieres Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET on USA Network.
