Johnsonville, Connecticut, is a former mill town along the Moodus River that dates back to the 1830s. It's also totally abandoned, and for sale for less than the price of some studio apartments in Manhattan.

Yes, all 62 acres of Johnsonville are up for auction with a starting bid of $800,000. The auction site claims that the buyer will be in the rare position to combine "the historic value of the 19th century village with 21st century living." Permitted uses include: Permitted uses include: Single-family, multifamily and affordable senior housing; arts/entertainment centers, B&Bs, inns, restaurant/banquet facilities, retail shops and schools.

Johnsonville is 30 minutes from Hartford and two hours from New York City and Boston, which means that it will almost certainly be snapped up by some real estate developer. But if you act now, it can all be yours.
