Cornell University Basketball Player Charged with Rape

A Cornell University basketball player was arrested over the weekend after being accused of rape, PEOPLE learns.

A spokeswoman for the campus police confirms Xavier Eaglin, a 19-year-old freshman forward, is facing rape and criminal sex act charges following a recent incident that is being investigated.

Eaglin is also charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, according to police.

Police have yet to detail the specific allegations lodged against the basketball player, who is being held on $100,000 bond.

Investigators claim additional charges could be forthcoming against Eaglin.

Eaglin hails from Raywood, Texas, and is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences, according to his player bio.
