A teen is accused of murder after allegedly fatally shooting a couple and wounding their daughter on Wednesday when they stopped on a remote Montana roadside to help him.

Jesus Deniz, 18, allegedly admitted to killing Jason and Tana Shane, 51 and 47, and shooting their 26-year-old daughter Jorah in the back alongside a road near Pryor, Montana, before taking off in their car, the Associated Press reports.

"Deniz told the interviewing agents that he shot the victims because he was getting tired of waiting, and because the daughter had laughed at him," an FBI agent said in a U.S. District Court filing.

The victims were helping Deniz after he ran out of gas, according to a federal court statement. When they approached his vehicle, Deniz "pointed a gun at them, and told them to get out of their car.”

He demanded money from the three and, when they said they had none, he began firing from a .22 caliber rifle, the AP reports.

Jorah said her mother told her to run as shots rang out. She was struck in the back and underwent surgery Wednesday night for the bullet lodged in her spine. Relatives kept the television off in the woman's hospital room. As of Thursday, Jorah did not know the tragic fate of her parents.

"Last night before she went in, she told everyone to go look for her mom, she's hiding in the field," Jorah's aunt, Ada Shane told the AP.

As Jorah recovered in a Billings hospital on Thursday, Deniz sat in a cell and waited for extradition proceedings to begin.

He was arrested in Wyoming on Wednesday about 120 miles from Pryor. He will be extradited to Montana to face charges in the shooting. FBI agents are seeking a murder charge for the teen. He is expected to appear in court on Friday.
