Turns out, The Force wasn't always with Daisy Ridley.

Before Ridley shot to fame as the lightsaber-wielding heroine in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the actress admits she had a few less-than-glamorous acting gigs.

"My first ever acting role to be broadcast to the U.K. was a commercial for a supermarket," she said while being honored at the U.S-Ireland Alliance Oscar Wilde Awards on Thursday. "I had to eat a pork pie over and over again."

But while eating a pie over and over again may sound like a dream to some people, the job wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

"I was working at a pub at the time and the guy that used to come in a lot told me he had never seen anyone take a happier bite -- it wasn't happy," Ridley, 23, admitted. "The pork pie was really f------ grim, I was thrilled to be working."

But filming The Force Awakens wasn't a walk in the park, either. Along with having to learn how to use lightsabers and converse with Chewbacca, Ridley also said she was extremely ill while filming the last scene of the movie.

"I was sick, like really sick on the floor, couldn't move, trying not to groan while Mark was doing serious acting," she revealed.

Sickness aside, fans were blown away by Ridley's portrayal as one of the film's newest heroines – and director J.J. Abrams couldn't agree more.

The director praised Ridley, along with Lupita Nyong'o, for their performances.

"I would say that what Daisy brought and certainly what Lupita brought, in a different way obviously, is an incredible strength, an incredible vulnerability, an incredible range of the emotions that I would hope we would all feel given the story of this character," he told reporters.

"Daisy did it seemingly effortlessly, and I know it was not effortless but she makes it feel that way. "

But acting isn't Ridley's only impressive skill. Abrams revealed that the actress is also a talented singer!

"One day on set, she just started singing and had the most beautiful voice I ever heard," he said. "On Saturday, this weekend, she is going to record a song with an unnamed person, but let's just say a massive superstar."
