The 53-year-old may have been kicked off of Dancing with the Stars on Monday, but just competing on the reality dance competition was an accomplishment for the former NFL star.
"I went six weeks without embarrassing myself. That's a win," Flutie told PEOPLE after Monday's show.
But Flutie also considered the experience a win because it pushed him out of his comfort zone.

And DWTS wasn't the first challenge Flutie has accepted in recent years.
"I'm over 50 years old, and I'm not stagnant," he said. "I learned to surf in the last five years and started playing baseball., and now I've come on a dancing show. You get old by getting complacent, and I want to keep moving forward."
Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays (8 p.m. ET) on ABC.
