A certain billionaire businessman has had the world hanging on his every tweet since he launched his presidential campaign last June – but @realDonaldTrump has been dropping jaws on the Internet for years.

As President Obama told White House reporters on Friday, Trump "has a long record that needs to be examined and I think it's important for us to take seriously the statements he’s made in the past."

Since announcing his presidential bid almost one year ago, Trump has insulted "presidential candidates, journalists, news organizations, nations, a Neil Young song and even a lectern in the Oval Office," The New York Times notes.

According to the paper's list, Trump appears to have reserved the most social media venom for his GOP rivals Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush, with Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton and Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly also getting heavy doses of the Donald's trademark insults.

From his first birther tweet about President Barack Obama in 2011 to his instantly infamous taco bowl tweet on Thursday, here's a look back at Trump's most controversial tweets in chronological order – and let's not forget the retweets. (Warning: low blows ahead.)

Although it may seem like the majority of Trump's tweets are aimed at his enemies, a graphic analysis of Trump's Twitter history by Politico shows that at least half of the real estate mogul's top 10 most-used words are references to himself (I, Trump, @realDonaldTrump, My, #Trump2016).

On his Twitter feed at least, Trump will always have the last word.
