Martha Nelson, formerly the editor-in-chief of Time Inc., has moved to Yahoo Media as the company's global editor-in-chief.

Yahoo's Chief Marketing Officer and media head Kathy Savitt announced the news in a post on Yahoo's Tumblr page on Thursday.

The media company launched multiple digital magazines early last year and Nelson has been handed the task of growing Yahoo's titles, which include 13 U.S and 30 international publications.

Nelson became Time Inc.'s first female editor-in-chief in 2012, before which she was the founding editor at InStyle and an editor at PEOPLE – where she grew the readership and reach of the celebrity weekly. Nelson left her position at Time Inc. in 2013

She was also named one of Forbes' Most Powerful Women three years in a row.

Nelson joins former managing editor of Time Inc., Andy Serwer – who recently joined Yahoo Finance.
