Bridesmaids director Paul Feig has officially confirmed he'll be helming Ghostbusters 3 and that it will star "hilarious women."

Maybe Feig could take some casting notes from Peter Venkman himself, Bill Murray, who gave an interview to the Toronto Star in September and named four actresses he thought could shine in such a film.

First up, Melissa McCarthy, Murray's costar in the film St. Vincent, which recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

"Melissa would be a spectacular Ghostbuster. And Kristen Wiig is so funny – god, she's funny! … I like this girl Linda Cardellini a lot. And Emma Stone is funny. There are some funny girls out there."

Interesting posse he's dreamed up there. So just for the purposes of hypothetical casting, let's say that this new Ghostbusters draws directly from the original. Which of the four named actresses should play which role?

In the original movies, Dan Aykroyd's Ray Stantz gets almost giddy with enthusiasm for his work. Therefore, a Ramona Stantz could only be played by McCarthy, whose characters have a similarly child-like quality in their zest for life.

Harold Ramos's Egon Spengler is the brains of the group – a super-nerd among regular nerds – as such, perhaps Cardellini's history as Velma in the Scooby-Doo movies would make her the choice female Egon. (Egona?)

Then again, playing mostly level-headed Lindsay on Freaks and Geeks could also make Cardellini a good Winston Zeddemore, the everyman (everywoman?) of the group. But we'll give this one to Kristen Wiig, who played the least weird and most relatable character in Bridesmaids, but still managed to be funny. We hope Ernie Hudson would approve.

And that leaves Murray's own role, the acerbic but charming Peter Venkman. Of the four actresses Murray listed, perhaps only Emma Stone could generate the edge needed to be a true successor. Petra Venkman, we're ready for you.

Then again, there are also rumors that Amy Poehler and Tina Fey could star in the all-female Ghostbusters 3, in which case an SNL dream team of Fey, Poehler, Wiig and Maya Rudolph could be unbeatable.

In any case, can we all agree that Rachel Dratch should play the female Louis (Rick Moranis)?
