The real-life (and onscreen) couple are expecting a baby – just like their characters James Gordon and Dr. Leslie Thompkins in Fox's Batman prequel.
In an exclusive clip from Monday's episode, Gordon tries to dissuade Thompkins from going on a potentially dangerous mission, as she is pregnant with his baby. She wants to go protect her patient Nora Fries (Kristen Hager), but Gordon doesn't think that's a great idea. Thompkins begs to differ.
"It's safe for Nora, but it's not safe for me? Keep thinking, hot shot. I'm going to get my shot," she tells Gordon, before holding her pregnant belly. "If you use this on me, I'm going to scream!"

"It was a total coincidence," she said. "They were already planning on doing that with [Ben and my] characters when I got pregnant. When I told them they were like, 'Okay, great!' and I was like, 'What?' It worked out perfectly."
Gotham airs Mondays (8 p.m. ET) on Fox.
