The Force was apparently not with Harrison Ford on the set of the new Star Wars film last week – but it's beginning to return.

Ford's rep released new information about the actor's condition, and confirmed he's on the mend.

"Harrison Ford's left leg was broken in an accident. His surgery was successful and he will begin rehab shortly. He's doing well and looks forward to returning to work," his rep tells PEOPLE.

The actor, 71, made headlines last week when he hurt himself on the British set of Star Wars: Episode VII and needed to be rushed to a hospital in Oxford. It was initially believed to be an ankle injury.

Ford is reprising his iconic role as Han Solo in the beloved franchise, which reunites him with original castmates Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. J.J. Abrams is directing the highly anticipated film, which is set 30 years after the events in Return of the Jedi. Additional costars include Lupita Nyong'o, Adam Driver, John Boyega and Daisy Ridley.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the injury occurred while Ford was shooting a scene aboard the Millennium Falcon, the famed spaceship his heroic, wisecracking character pilots.

A rep for Disney, which is overseeing the production, confirmed shooting will continue in his absence. Disney has not commented on the Millennium Falcon report.
