The photo, which shows the former president with his arm wrapped around the former secretary of state and 2016 Democratic hopeful, was tweeted on Sunday by David Chalian, the political director of CNN.
"This may be the best photo from Mrs. Reagan's funeral," he captioned the picture of the politically opposed pair.
Some Clinton supporters hailed the photo as proof of the former first lady's ability to collaborate across party lines:
@DavidChalian Thank you for this. All about reaching across lines.— Bonny Forrest (@DrBonnyForrest) March 14, 2016
Others were more critical of Bush and Clinton's relationship and past decisions:
@DavidChalian It's all show biz. Trump compares Carson to a pedophile and now Carson backs him? Alllllllll for show, money and power.— quip (@quip1) March 14, 2016
@DavidChalian The political elites will be always family to each other. The pseudo-rivalries are just for show for us peasants.— Ms New York Values (@msYankeeTexan) March 14, 2016
If the Clinton-Bush hug left a bad taste in your mouth, perhaps this photo of another unexpected political embrace will cleanse your palate:

Danny DeVito is quite literally feeling the Bern – and even Twitter can't come between them.
