Bündchen, 35, posted a supportive Instagram of her husband cuddling their two children Monday after his big loss – but was spotted flying solo to Brazil the next day.
Still, the source says the trip doesn't spell trouble for the stars' marriage, explaining that she's on her way back to Boston and had a pre-scheduled "obligation" in her home country.
"She probably timed it right after the game thinking they were going to win," the source explains. "If they were going to go to the Super Bowl, then she could have been back in time and he would have been with his team this whole time, anyway.”
Bündchen and Brady, 38, did fit in some quality family time Jan. 9, when they were photographed cuddling on the sidelines of their 6-year-old son Ben's hockey practice.
"He was kissing her on the forehead. They were snuggling," the source says. "His parents were there, too. They seemed happy. They were beaming watching the little boy’s hockey practice. It was this very bucolic scene in their hometown of Brookline, Massachusetts.”
The parents have been plagued by divorce rumors in the past, especially after the fallout from "Deflategate," though Brady steadfastly denied any strife at the time, telling a Boston radio station, "I've been very blessed to have an incredible relationship with my life partner, and I don't think anything will ever get in the way of that."
"He's obsessed with football. And she is extremely focused on her body, so she goes to the gym every morning," the source says of their life together. "That chef comes like clockwork every day. She runs a tight ship. She works out, goes home, eats, gets the kids. They live this focused, focused, focused life. If there was any tension between them, it would be because of his obsession with football … especially after Deflategate. I think his legacy is a big thing for him and he didn't want his reputation tarnished."
