Did Jamie Lee Curtis Invent Instagram? Star Says She Had the Idea in 2008

Jamie Lee Curtis is already a legendary actress, but can she add tech innovator to her long list of accomplishments?

The Scream Queens star says that she had the idea for Instagram a few years before its creators did.

"I invented Instagram about six years ago. As soon as iPhones came out and we started taking photos," Curtis told Jess Cagle, editorial director of PEOPLE and EW, on Sirius XM's The Jess Cagle Show.

Curtis, 56, went on to talk about launching iphoneyes.blogspot.com, a blog in which she published iPhone photos taken by her friends.

The first post was made on March 29, 2008. Instagram launched in 2010, and was purchased by Facebook in 2012.

Curtis said she and her friends stopped using her blog as soon as Instagram launched. But the actress harbors no ill will toward its creators.

"As soon as they were available, that's all we did," Curtis said. "I'm media savvy. I was a little late in the game. But you know what, I'm happy with Instagram. I'm happy they sold it for $18 billion."

Scream Queens airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
