Newly engaged couple Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard met for the first time in Nepal, when she traveled there with her father, Jim Bob Duggar, so the two could get to know each other. But as their trip wound down, both Jill and Derick were unsure about how the other person felt.

In an exclusive clip of a new episode of TLC's hit reality show 19 Kids & Counting, airing Tuesday (9 p.m. ET), we get to see the moment when Derick asks Jill to start a courtship – and their first side hug.

"I think he likes me, hopefully," Jill, 22, says as she's packing up her bags. "He's really nice."

Derick was having nervous jitters of his own. "It's been an awesome week," he says. "I'm kind of smitten with her right now. I hope the feelings are mutual. We'll see."

After saying goodbye to her father, Derick takes Jill aside and pops the question: "I've really enjoyed having you here this last week," he says. "If it's all right with you, I'm interested in starting an official courtship. So?"

Her smile says it all but Jill manages to add, "Yeah, that would be awesome!"

Jill is one of 19 kids born to Jim Bob, 48, and Michelle Duggar, 47, who adhere to Christian beliefs and follow Bible teachings as they raise their mega-sized family. One of their traditions is courting, which means young couples wait to hold hands until they're engaged and save their first kisses until they marry.

Jill's sister Jessa, 20, began a courtship with Ben Seewald, 18, that has been followed on 19 Kids & Counting.

They two sisters – along with Jana, 24, and Jinger, 20 – wrote Growing Up Duggar about their beliefs.

And what does Jill's father think of Derick? Says Jim Bob: "He is an amazing young man."
