The latest? A video of Abrams posing with the iconic X-Wing ship from the films, promoting a new charity initiative connected with the films, Star Wars: Force for Change.
Force for Change comes from Disney and Lucasfilm (in collaboration with Abrams's production company, Bad Robot) – the initiative's first campaign will raise funds and awareness for UNICEF.
To support the initiative's launch, Disney has committed $1 million, and fans can donate directly at the Force for Change Omaze.
By pledging as little as $10, fans are entered into a context, the grand prize of which is pretty incredible: Airfare and accommodations to the Star Wars set in London, VIP behind-the-scenes access, a meet-and-greet with the cast, and most importantly, a chance to be transformed by makeup and costume into a Star Wars character and filmed for a role in Episode VII.
If you're interested – Kind of Maybe a Spoiler Alert … Maybe? – Badass Digest claims to have obtained leaked plot details for Episode VII, a claim which should be taken with a whole winter's sidewalk full of salt. (A follow-up post on the site claimed the details were taken from sources who have proved to be "absolutely impeccable in the past.")
Real deal or bunk? It's too soon to tell, and as Star Wars taught us, "Only a Sith deals in absolutes."
