It might be time to give up on waiting for that letter from Hogwarts and start blaming your lack of magical skills on Ilvermorny.

That's right, Potterheads – on Friday, J.K. Rowling revealed the name and general location of North America's own school of witchcraft and wizardry.

According to a statement written by Rowling and read by Evanna Lynch (who played Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films) at the Celebration of Harry Potter at the Universal Orlando Resort on Friday, the North American magic school is named Ilvermorny.

And judging by a map released on Pottermore, the school is located somewhere around the Northeast United States – perhaps near the site of the Salem Witch Trials?

Although Rowling has not released any more details about Ilvermorny, she posted plenty of information about three more of the world's 11 great wizarding schools: Brazil's Castelobruxo, Japan's Mahoutokoro and Africa's Uagadou.

Fans hungry for more information about Ilvermorny will surely be satisfied when Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which follows Hogwarts alum Newt Scamander to New York in 1926, is released this fall.

Last June, Rowling tweeted that in the film, Scamander will meet people who were educated at the American wizarding school. She also revealed that Native American magic "was important in the founding of the school," but refused to say which specific tribes contributed to Ilvermorny's founding.
