"It was such a proud moment for me," Sparks, 24, tells PEOPLE. "I've never seen her glow that way. I cried seeing how happy she was."
On the big day, which took place on March 15, Sparks served as the maid of honor and did her mother's makeup. But she said her main duty was to keep any stress away from her mom, who is the president of Sparks's charity, The M.A.D. Girls.
And luckily, Sparks, whose father is former professional football player Phillippi Sparks, approves of her mother's new husband James, a corporate firefighter.
"He is such a good man and everybody could see that," se says. "To see a union where everyone is wishing nothing but good was awesome."
