Katherine Heigl is not hard to work with. She promises!

The actress, who met with the press Sunday to promote her new NBC drama State of Affairs, found herself having to defend the perception that she's not always a team player on TV and movie sets.

"I certainly don't see myself as being difficult. I would never intend to be difficult," the former Grey's Anatomy star, 35, told reporters in Beverly Hills, California. "If I ever disappointed somebody, it was never intentional."

At least she will have a familiar shoulder to cry on if the going ever gets tough on her new drama: Heigl's mom/manager Nancy is making her first foray into TV as one of the drama's executive producers.

Heigl and her mother both spoke about the series, which focuses on a CIA analyst who counsels the U.S. president, played by Alfre Woodard.

"I am her mother for sure. Of course I care about [Katherine]," Nancy Heigl told the reporters. "I'm just learning about executive producing from those who really know. I'm a newcomer. It's been interesting."

Her daughter had a pithy response for anyone who questioned what her mom would bring to the table. "She'll bake us cookies," Heigl quipped.
