Widow of the Oscar-nominated Nashville director Robert Altman – Kathryn Altman – has died, according to reports. She was 91.

Kathryn died on Wednesday after suffering a heart attack at her home in Santa Monica, Variety reports.

After her husband died in 2006, Kathryn reportedly took part in a number of activities intended to extend his legacy and remember his talent. She gave to various Robert Altman retrospectives, including the Museum of Modern Art at the UCLA Film and Television Archive, and festivals around the globe.

According to Variety she also helped create the University of Michigan's Robert Altman Collection – one of the largest of a major film director.

The size of the archives makes sense since Altman vowed to continue film making until he died.

"Does my age get in the way? Sure, it gets in the way, you know, every morning when I have breakfast it gets in the way. It's just part of the process now...It takes me a little longer now, that's all," he told PEOPLE the same year he died, but he added, "As long as I am living that's what I'll be doing – making movies."

Kathryn leaves three children, three stepchildren, 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
