"We always watch it together," Urban told reporters Wednesday before Caleb Johnson was crowned the winner of season 13. "It's a delayed telecast out here [in Los Angeles], so we go home and watch it together. We get in our jammies and watch it. It's a good look."
And it looks like Urban and Kidman – who married in 2006 and have two daughters, Sunday, 5, and Faith, 3 – will be avidly watching the next season. Although Fox has yet to officially announce that Urban, along with fellow judges Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr., will be back for season 14, a source confirmed the news to PEOPLE earlier this month.
On Wednesday, Urban dropped telling hints of what may be in store.
"I'm looking forward to it a lot. I hope all of us stay intact," Urban said coyly when asked if he was excited for next season. "I've had a really great time, and I feel like we've got a good groove going."
Connick Jr., on the other hand, was more up-front about how psyched he is for the next round of Idol auditions, which begin later this year.
"We were talking about it last night," he said. "The most exciting thing is to imagine the next American Idol winner is walking around somewhere. I can't wait. I'm so fired up!"
