The Kentucky Derby always bring a slew of celebrities to Louisville, and this year is no exception.

The festivities kicked off with a bang Friday night at the Barnstable Brown Kentucky Derby Eve Gala, with stars like Kate Upton, Megyn Kelly and more in attendance, as well as performers like the Alabama Shakes and other country artists.

Dancing with the Stars pro Kym Johnson, 39, and her fiancé Robert Herjavec, 53, were also in attendance, and an observer told PEOPLE the couple was "totally adorable" as they spent the evening doting on each other and dancing.

"They were sort of hanging all over each other, all smiles, with their arms around each other," said the partygoer of the duo, who were still jamming away to the music at 1 a.m. "They were cute. They were so inseparable!"

Another adorable couple was The Voice champ Jordan Smith and his fiancée Kristen Denny.

Twenty-two year old Smith, who is a Kentucky native, brought the house down with a few Queen songs.

Also dancing the night away at the bash was newly-engaged Upton, 23, who attended the party without her fiancé Justin Verlander but was joined by her mother. The model also spent half an hour posing for photos, signing autographs and hanging out with fans before making her way inside.

Upton and her mom jumped right up on the stage next to the main stage and bopped away to the music as Smith, Brian McKnight and Ritchie Sambora jammed away, while Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, 32, hung out with Arrow star Stephen Amell, 34.

Elin Nordegren was also in attendance, all smiles as she chatted with hosts Tricia Barnstable Brown and Priscilla Barnstable in the VIP section, while Megyn Kelly and her husband Douglas Brunt chatted with Dallas Cowboys star Tony Romo and his wife Candice Crawford.

"It basically just turned into a big jam session with all the celebrity performers," said the insider. "And a lot of the singers did Prince tributes, which was awesome."
