Remember when Lady Gaga wowed the Oscars with a tribute to The Sound of Music? One year later, the musical's cast is turning the tables and sharing their own tribute as a way to give thanks.
In "The Sound of Gaga," a new YouTube video, performers in a stage production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein hit reimagine the 29-year-old diva's pop hits. Maria belts "Paparazzi," nuns harmonize the "Judas" melodies and young lovers Rolf and Liesl live on the "Edge of Glory," delivering a mashup to delight theater fans and monsters alike.
The timing of the release couldn't be more perfect, as Gaga is set to appear at the Oscars on Sunday. Her emotional ballad "Til It Happens to You"" from The Hunting Ground – a documentary about the realities of rape on college campuses – is nominated for Best Original Song.
2016 has already been a ground-breaking year for Gaga, who performed the National Anthem at the Super Bowl and won a Golden Globe for her performance on American Horror Story: Hotel. Next up on her list: more pop hits The Sound of Music cast might want to perform.
"You know, I am putting out an album this year," Gaga said of her upcoming release at the Globes. "I won't tell you when!"
