With the release of her new Rebel Heart album on Tuesday, Madonna's balancing her roles as both provocative musician and mom.

So how do her kids (Lourdes, 18, Rocco, 13, and 9-year-olds Mercy and David Banda) feel about her racy songs?

"Lola's horrified by all of it. She just wants me to be her mom," Madonna, 56, told Carson Daly of her college-age daughter on the Today show Tuesday.

As for the younger ones?

"At this point, Rocco doesn't care. It just goes over. He's like, 'Ugh, Mom. Mom's being Mom,' " Madonna, 56, said. "The other little kids aren't tuned into that frequency yet."

The singer admits it can be awkward at times, particularly if the kids would visit the studio when she was recording songs like "Holy Water" (an EDM track about oral sex) and "S.E.X."

"It's a little bit cray cray," she said. "Here's the weird thing, every time my kids would visit me in the studio, it would just so happen I was working on a song like 'Holy Water' or 'S.E.X.,' and I'd be like ... umm ... Okay, just ... Stay outside. I'll be right out."

Despite being a superstar and a pop music icon, Madonna insists she's a normal mom and is still working out how to balance it all.

"The more kids you have, the more responsibilities you have, the more you have to really be aware of time, time management, and juggling lots of balls in the air and thinking, 'Oh my God, how am I gonna do this? How am I gonna promote my record and show up at my daughter's show?' " she said.
