The Joseph Gordon-Levitt film Premium Rush offered moviegoers a small glimpse of what life is like for the thousands of people biking through New York City each day, albeit a highly dramatized glimpse.

This video, while featuring little smuggling, crime, or special effects, offers a similar look at the world of urban biking.

Uploaded by Andrew Betsch, it shows a journey from midtown Manhattan to Brooklyn on Sept. 4. Betsch's route takes him down 9th Avenue, through the West Village and SoHo via Bleecker Street, through the Lower East Side down Delancey, and then across the Williamsburg Bridge into Brooklyn. He heads down Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and down Bushwick Avenue, before arriving home.

It's a wonderful mini-tour of the city and, judging by how many people get passed in the bike lane, one conducted at a speedy clip.

Just remember, kids, always wear a helmet – especially if you look like Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
