The body of missing New York college student Max Maisel has been found.
The 21-year-old, the son of ESPN writer Ivan Maisel, vanished in late February after he was seen getting out of his SUV on the Charlotte Pier on Lake Ontario.
His body was found in the lake on Friday after multiple searches of the waters turned up nothing, Rochester police said. The cause of death is still unclear.
"We knew this day would come, and we are relieved that it has," his family said in a statement, according to WROC.
"But it is merely the postscript to our sad story. We have mourned Max from the night that the Rochester police called to tell us he was missing. There was no other plausible solution to the puzzle he left behind.
"Now we must get on with living with this hole in our lives."
