You can thank baseball legend Hank Aaron for MC Hammer's name.
The hip-hop artist behind "U Can't Touch This" raised in Oakland and grew up an avid Oakland A's fan.
"I was born in Oakland. I've been here all my life," the 53-year-old star says in a preview clip from Thursday's episode of Top Chef.
"When I was a little kid I worked for the Oakland A's," the guest judge – who was born Stanley Kirk Burrell – continues in the clip, which is exclusive to PEOPLE. "Reggie Jackson said I looked a lot like the Hammer, Hank Aaron, the home run king. And he said, 'I'm going to call you the Little Hammer.' When I became a rapper I kept that name and became MC Hammer."
Top Chef airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on Bravo.
