Melissa McCarthy aint afraid of no ghosts, she not only believes in them but considers them her friends.

"I grew up on a farm and I didn't have any real friends," the Ghostbusters star revealed during the Sony presentation at Cinemacon on Tuesday. "I have a very strong belief that people are out there because I was certainly talking to someone in those barns," she said, before quipping, "otherwise I'm just crazy. I really strongly believe in ghosts."

McCarthy made an appearance at the Las Vegas convention with her Ghostbusters costars, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and director Paul Feig, who "interrupted" the presentation.

In addition to the cast's presence on stage, the audience of mostly movie theater owners was treated to an extended trailer of the film, which includes a cameo by original Ghostbusters star Dan Aykroyd. In the remake, he plays a cab driver and proclaims to Wiig, "I ain't afraid of no ghosts." Wigg humorously corrects his grammar in the scene.

Wiig said filming Ghostbuster was a "magical" experience, due largely to the fact that she was reunited with her Bridesmaids director Feig and co-star McCarthy.

"I just felt at home because I was with you and I know all these guys," she told Feig. "It was very magical from the beginning."

For McCarthy, she indicated that she wanted to star in the film because she loved Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2, which were released in 1984 and 1989, respectively.

"The originals loom large for me and I love them," she said. "I love an underdog story and I love when these people kind of become the heroes. As a moviegoer it makes us feel that we can do it. I love them."

"I showed the originals to my kids," she continued. "And when I had a shot to do it, not just with Paul, but with these three other women, it was like, 'What am I, nuts?' Of course I want to do it."

Ghostbusters hits theaters July 15.
