Sarah Silverman and Michael Sheen made their red carpet debut at the high fashion event. The A Million Ways to Die in the West actress, 43, looked posh and pretty in a strapless Zac Posen crimson gown, at times accessorized with Sheen's arm around her waist, while the Masters of Sex actor, 45, looked dapper in a white Prada suit.
(It's a glam switch-up for the couple, who were first linked in early February at Sheen's birthday bash and were spotted in Los Angeles this winter looking casual and relaxed.)
The Metropolitan Museum of Art gala also enticed Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively to make a rare red carpet appearance since their tying the knot in September 2012 – and it did not disappoint.
The duo oozed Old Hollywood glam, with Lively, 26, in a Gucci Première blush gown and Reynolds, 37, in a Gucci custom midnight-blue velvet tuxedo (and swoon-worthy scruff – he is, after all, a Sexiest Man Alive alum).
Charlize Theron and Sean Penn also fired up the carpet, which they strolled hand in hand. The statuesque actress, 38, wowed in a Dior black-and-white gown, which coordinated perfectly with Penn's classic black tux and white shirt.
In April, the two denied rumors of an engagement, several months after they took their romance public at Penn's Help Haiti Home gala in January. Since then, they've been spotted vacationing together in Hawaii and Cabo, where an eyewitness deemed them "inseparable ... they held hands everywhere they went."
