On Tuesday's episode of the morning talk show, Kelly Ripa took a moment to address her co-host's final day, which as PEOPLE exclusively first reported will be May 13.
"A week from this Friday is Michael's final show here at Live!," said Ripa, 45, as the audience began booing.
"We still love you, Kelly!" shouted one audience member.
"Thanks, I'm still here!" Ripa said with a laugh.
"We'll remember. We'll reminisce. We're going to look back at the fun times we've had together – wait till you see all the stuff that we've done, you're not going to believe it," she told Strahan.
"So join us for Michael's Flashback Friday Farewell on Friday the 13th," she added before starting to laugh about the irony of the date. "You can't plan this! You literally cannot plan it."
On Monday, Strahan, 44, addressed his Live! departure with Entertainment Tonight at the 2016 Met Gala in New York City, opening up about the flurry of drama that followed after he revealed he would be leaving ABC's Live! to join the network's Good Morning America as a full time co-anchor in September.
"I'm looking forward to [GMA], but I still look forward to going to work at Live!," Strahan said. "I love being there. I still love it."
Of reported tensions with his co-host Ripa – who was noticeably absent for almost a week after sources told PEOPLE she was "completely blindsided" by the news – Strahan said he thinks "everybody this wrong impression of it."
Strahan also revealed he and Ripa were somewhat taken aback by how much media attention the news garnered.
"I think the more I talk about it, the more it becomes a news story, and I don't understand why. Neither one of us understands why, but it is what it is," he said.
At the end of the day, though, Strahan still has plenty of love for the morning talk show.
"It's a great show, great people, and I'm very fortunate to be a part of it," he added.
Of last week, which was Strahan and Ripa's first week filming together since the news broke, the former NFL pro said it was a "great."
"Every week is great. Every day is great for me," he said. "I'm on the other side of the dirt!"
Strahan also opened up about the co-hosts recent Daytime Emmy win, which they celebrated on air Monday.
"That was big. Surprised both of us!" Strahan said. "I'm happy though. It's a good testament to the show, a good testament to our staff and all the work we put in, so I'm very happy about that."
