Hear What Morgan Freeman's Voice Sounds Like on Helium

05/24/2014 AT 04:00 PM EDT

Morgan Freeman's voice is so familiar from film roles, documentaries and commercials that it's a surprise to hear it altered in any way, like if someone added googly eyes to the Mona Lisa.

Which is why it's so amusing to find out what the Shawshank Redemption star sounds like when he inhales helium, as Freeman did in a recent promo for the Science Channel series Through the Wormhole, which he hosts. He doesn't sound himself, but then, he doesn't sound not himself either – the result is akin to either Donald Duck doing a Morgan Freeman impression, or Morgan Freeman doing a Donald Duck impression.

Watch the video above, and then try to imagine what sort of bribery it'll take to get James Earl Jones to join in on the fun.
