Jonathan Ashley Butler was arrested on Feb. 12 for online solicitation of a minor, a second degree felony, police tell PEOPLE.
Butler was arrested after the mother of a nine-year-old girl allegedly found inappropriate text messages on her daughter's cell phone from the 36-year-old.
The mother reported the texting to the police, who set up a sting to arrest Butler, Grapevine, Texas, police Sgt. Robert Eberling tells PEOPLE.
On Feb. 12, Butler allegedly drove 35 minutes from Justin, Texas, to Grapevine to meet the girl. But he was met instead by Grapevine police detectives.
The alleged victim spends her time between her mother's home in Justin, Texas, and her father's home in Grapevine, Texas.
Butler lives in the same apartment complex as the alleged victim's father, and Butler's daughter babysat the alleged victim, which police believe is how the two met, Eberling tells PEOPLE.
"He has a teenage daughter that babysits the [alleged] victim and that’s something we're still investigating," Eberling says.

They are currently investigating the possibility of more alleged victims and physical interactions.
"We don't know how long have this been going on for and we don’t believe that there was any type of physical contact but we're still investigating at this point," Eberling tells PEOPLE.
Butler worked in the neighboring city of Trophy Club, Texas, as a hotel receptionist.
He is being held on $50,000 bail in the Tarrant County Jail. It is unknown if he has entered a plea.
