Star Wars: The Force Awakens Leads the Pack for the 2016 MTV Movie Awards Nominations

The Oscars may be over but that doesn't mean awards season has come to a close.

The 2016 MTV Movie Awards nominations were announced Tuesday morning – and some of the season's biggest hits with fans are finally getting awards show recognition.

A few Oscar-winning films including The Revenant and Mad Max: Fury Road received nods. But, Deadpool, Jurassic World and Avengers: Age of Ultron are also getting much-deserved attention.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens lead the pack with 11 nominations. Franchise newcomers Daisy Ridley andJohn Boyega are both up for the Breakthrough Performance award.



This year, the MTV Movie Awards are also introducing two new categories: True Story and Documentary.

Online voting begins Tuesday, March 7. Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson (who are both nominees) will host this year's awards ceremony.
